Hello everyone!
We took the train yesterday from Bangkok to Ayutthaya to explore the former capital. The train cost us only 50 cents each so it was a real steal :). The 5 of us in our group met this Tuk Tuk Driver at the train station who said he would make a short tour for us for around 6 dollars each. This worked perfectly as Angie and I didn't have a lot of time because we were going to catch the night train to Chiang Mai. The driver waited around for the others to check into a guest house, waited for us to eat, and than took us to many of the old ruins and temples. We started this tour a bit late in the day but it was great because we were able to see the temples and ruins in the sunlight, during the sunset, and at night time. We also visited this huge Standing Buddha where there were tons of people giving worship. Its really interesting to watch all of the different forms of prayer and worship around the world. We just sat for awhile and watched. Afterwards Angie and I took the night train to Chiang Mai.. The train was 12 hours or so and we shared a meal and each had a beer before we passed out on our beds to go to sleep. As we awoke we saw that the scenery had changed dramatically...from industrial Bangkok to rural farmlands. We have just checked into our cute little guest house and are deciding what we want to do for the day... We will probably do a trek, maybe take a cooking course, shop, and relax...:)
Will post some pics later

Good deal for the train. Cannot believe you have done so much since you left. As usual miserable in Vancouver weather wise. Look forward to more pics.
