Delhi!- We made it!

Namaste from Incredible India!

Angela and I arrived safely in Delhi last night. Its been a real struggle getting internet here so unfortunately I wont be able to update as much as I would like to. The flight was fine, nothing too exciting. We arrived in the airport and our driver a sweet Indian man namd Hookum picked us up. He dropped us off at our hotel "Hotel Royal Residency" in the Karol Bagh area of Delhi. Our room is pretty decent, hot showers but not enough trickle so I had a bucket bath today :) Right outside of our room is the roof top/makeshift kitchen I think.. Around the corner in a corner near the elevator sleeps two Indian men. Quite interesting indeed... I am letting my new "Indian" self not be surprised about anything. Today we met with a Couchsurfer and he showed us all around the city. We went to the National Museum..India's history is so rich! It was a lot to soak in. We then went to some other parts of the city, including a nice garden called Lodi Gardens. We walked down a bazaar street where people called after us trying to sell us clothing calling 300 rupees! 200 rupees! 150 rupees! Miss Miss come back! Low price! WOW. Haha. We also ate some great Indian food today... some Naan, and Daal (a lentil based dish), Sweet Lassi, and a yummy milk desert. We walked and walked and walked and our feet felt sooo tired! A big change from lounging around on the beach. We are being stared it a lot, some of it is a stare by peverted men, but mostly it is a stare of pure curiosity. The Indians want to know "where are you from?" "how long have you been in India?" and "do you like it?". We had little kids wave at us and say Hi, and a woman security guard tell us how beautiful our new nose piercings were. So far I am not sure how I like Delhi... its a very dirty city. Garbage everywhere, people everywhere, lots of dirt, dust and construction.. and is it ever big! Sprawling... a big city full of 15 million people. Angela and I look forward to exploring some more tomorrow. Alex arrives on the 4th and we will stay in Delhi until the 5th. Afterwards we will begin our tour to Rajasthan.

I also bought a cell phone so if you need my number please e-mail me and I will send you it.
