Bangkok Day 3 & 4

Hello everyone,

The past couple of days have been so busy that I feel as if  I have been here for weeks! Yesterday we said goodbye to a couple of our Couchsurfing friends and Angie and I took off to explore the city. We attempted to go to the Grand Palace but we were not appropriately attired and they had run out of clothes so it was going to be a long wait. Therefore, I took Angie to where I had been the day before; Wat Pho and the Reclining Buddha. Afterwards we ate the most delicious Pad Thai and Papaya Salad ever.. Thailand is food heaven. We then took a ferry across to Wat Arun and climbed to the top; it was spectacular. From there we took the ferry back and negotiated a good price for a Tuk Tuk which took us to Siam Square where there is a huge mall. The shopping wasn't that great though so we didn't end up buying anything. We took a cab back to Khao San Road and we met some girls from Couchsurfing and went with them and another friend of ours to Chinatown. Chinatown was pretty cool, all the big bright lit signs.. We ate some street food which wasn't that good but it was alright. Afterwards we went to a roof top bar which overlooked all of Bangkok and than headed back to the debauchery of Khao San Road. Since the food in Chinatown didnt quite please our appetite we decided to try some bugs instead. We all scammed this Aussie guy into buying us our first Cricket. It looked disgusting but wasn't really that bad..its fried so it was crunchy and salty. Today we took a mini tour to the Floating Market. I've always wanted to go to one since watching the Thailand episode of Departures. However I was pretty disapointed, I should have known but it was way too touristy. Just a lot of white people in boats and Thai people selling a lot of crappy souvenirs. When we came back Angie and I each got a foot massage and ate some more yummy Thai Curry. Tomorrow we are going to Ayutthaya for the day and than we will take the overnight train to Chiang Mai...!

Well thats it for now! Hope all is well with everyone and Ill update again soon...

Love Krista

  1. Hi Krista
It sounds like your having a great time. All is good here, no snow so far. I'm sorry about the
cosmetic bag, I still have the bill for it, I will take it back to Sears, they should give me a refund. Enjoy Chaing Mai.

I'll have to deep-fry some bugs for you when you get back. :)

Jenna looked a little squeamish about the cricket.

Looks like you are having a great time. That's good. Think of us by next Wednesday when it is supposed to be -10 and snow!

    Take care.

No thanks to bugs. Looks like Angie doesn't like them either. Not on my menu but the pics really capture the fun you are having. Looks like you are having the time of your life.

    Love,
